Miss Mary
Yoga
She started doing yoga 35 years ago when she was student teaching at an elementary school. You know what that environment is like, she was frazzled! She connected to the practice right away. It became a way to slow down, stretch and breathe that helped her to understand the relationship between body, mind and breath. She's been managing her stress level with yoga ever since. When she doesn’t practice, she feels different. Yoga has improved the quality of her life, plain and simple.
She always thought about teaching yoga, but relationships, career and life itself seemed to get in the way, until a few years ago. After the loss of both her parents, the end of a 31 year relationship and the passing of my favorite dog on earth, she decided to make some major changes. Instead of letting life “get in the way”, she decided to create the life she want to live.
She did her 200 hour yoga teacher training at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. It was amazing. The style is Hatha based, which is essentially a breathing and movement practice using static postures and some flow. Like most teachers, she incorporates other styles into her classes. She is attentive to student needs, so modifications are encouraged and practiced.
